Taking a "blog" break...

Okay - I know I need to work on my new schedule.  I do...I really do.  I was unable to work out yesterday because Addy was NOT feeling well at all - her poor little nose is either stuffy or runny.  I swear all I did yesterday was suck it out with the "snot-sucker"!  lol

I am not going to post anything until I can get into a normal routine with her.  I'm still writing down the workouts from HIIT Mamas and am still going to try to do them.  I just feel like such a failure because I haven't been able to do them lately, yet I know Addy comes first.  I'll post when I can workout - so hopefully this blog won't be totally blank.  I know things will get easier, but I'm just trying to catch up on work or housework while she naps and I just play with her while she's awake.  It won't be for long, so bear with me!!

Failure is not fatal.  Only failure to get back up is.  Well...that's a good thing in my case, isn't it?  lol  I want everyone to know that I am NOT a lazy bum/couch potato whenever I don't get a workout in.  I'm just busy.  I did not workout yesterday.  My original plan was to catch up on office paperwork for most of the day since Addy was at her other grandmother's house.  Well, I did make it into the office, but only for about 45 minutes.  Then, I started on Hayley's laundry, which led me to finally getting her winter clothes out and putting her summer clothes away, which led me to going through all of her clothes and getting rid of what she doesn't/can't wear any more, which led me to cleaning out the closet and under her bed and before I knew it I had to stop and pick her up from school.  I then finished up everything after I got back.  Right when I was getting ready to go work out, Katy called to see if I could pick her up from work.  The clutch went out on Andy's car so it was in the shop, so he drove Katy to work but when it came time for her to leave he was in the middle of his work and couldn't leave and she had to go so she could feed Addy and keep her on schedule.  So, being the great mom that I am...yada, yada, yada.  :)   Anyway - the point is - I was very busy yesterday and my butt muscles are sore.  Not sure what I did that used them so much yesterday, but yeah - they're there!

My plan is to do the workout I planned to do yesterday - "20 x 20".  I'm not going to list them all again - just read yesterday's blog.  :)

Okay Monday...let's do this!

Okay Monday...let's do this!  For real!!  I did not get a workout in last Thursday (I'm sure you noticed that), nor did I even look at the workouts on Friday.  I've really got to work on my new schedule.  I know I sound like a broken record, but it's true.  I've got to get back in the groove.  But - on the bright side....I DID get two workouts in last week and that's better than none, right?  Right.

I just looked at Friday's HIIT Mamas workout and I do believe I'm going to do that one today.  It sounds like a nice challenge to start off the week, plus it's a "compare to" and y'all know how much I love those!!

Today's workout - "20 x 20" - sounds fun, right?  ;)
   20 - wall ball shots
        - sit-ups
        - box jumps
        - push-ups
        - cleans, 20 lbs
        - jump rope
        - thrusters, 20 lbs
        - front squats, 40 lbs
        - kettle-bell swings, 20 lbs
        - bench dips
        - sumo dead-lift high pulls, 20 lbs
        - burpees
        - hang squat cleans, 20 lbs
        - pull-ups
        - walking lunges
        - dead-lifts, 60 lbs
        - knees to elbows
        - squats
        - leg lifts

We did this on 12/6/12 and my time was 27:02.  Let's just hope I don't do worse!  lol

Nothing much going on...

Nothing much going on this morning.  I still cannot post pictures on my blog.  I've sent ANOTHER "feedback" to Blogger - maybe they'll respond to this one.  Oh well...I'm here...I'm blogging.  :)

Today's workout looks fun - tough, but fun.
   5 rounds for time
      20 push-ups
      30 walking lunges
      40 sit-ups
      50 squats
*rest 3 minutes between each round*

I just spoke with my daughter, Katy, and she wants to increase the amount of milk in Addy's bottles today and possibly cut out one bottle.  So, we'll see how that goes.  I'm sure it will be a crazy day here today because of that, but I'll have Honey-Buns helping out and should be able to workout again.  It feels really great to get these workouts in.  I have to say, I'm pretty glad I haven't gained weight since I haven't been working out as much.  Maybe this will kick it back in and I'll start dropping a few - even though that's not the purpose of my working out.  I just want to be more fit and able to keep up with Addy like I was when my kids were little.  Children are so much fun to have around!

I've gotta run - running late this morning.  Y'all have a good day.

Another day...another workout!

Another day...another workout!  Let's hope so, anyway!!  Again, I'm having issues with Blogger and cannot upload a photo.  I've tried using both Chrome and Internet Explorer, with the same results.  The box pops up for me to add a picture, but it's completely empty.  It's driving me crazy!!

I'm doing yesterday's prescribed workout from HIIT Mamas - I'm a day behind this week.  Here's what I hope to do today:

Run 1 mile
50 Sumo Deadlift High Pulls, 20 lbs
Run 1 mile

I'm really hoping either Honey-Buns will be here to watch Addy or she is better at just watching me today.  I'll take my carrier upstairs just in case - but I can't run with her in it, nor can I do deadlift high pulls.  I'm really hoping for a happy baby this afternoon!!
*************************
Yay!  Two days in a row!!  Honey-Buns was here - thank goodness because Miss Addy was not having anything to do with the upstairs today.  She pitched the biggest fit with me just putting on my shoes!  Of course, she's happy as a bug in a rug right now.  :)

I did this, but cut it short - meaning, I did not do the last mile.  I am VERY proud to say that I did NOT hold on AT ALL on the treadmill today!!  :)  I did the "run a mile" training - run 100 meters walk 300 meters times 4, except on the last quarter mile I ran 100 meters, walked 100 meters, ran 100 meters, walked 100 meters.  All running was at 4.3 speed and all walking was at 3.3 speed.  SO happy with that!!  I used 24 lb dumbbells with the sumo dead-lift high pulls.  My shoulders are burning!!  I was able to do 20, then 10, 8, 7, 5.

Total time was 19:14 - 16:55 was my treadmill time.  I know that isn't a great time for a mile, but I did NOT hold on!  :)

Make things happen.  Yep...that's what I need to do!  By the time I got back from FODAC yesterday, I had a pretty bad headache - rain, traffic, rain.  What is it about the rain that makes me people drive like idiots?  Maybe they've always driven like idiots and I just don't notice until it rains?  Who knows?  lol  Regardless, I did not do anything yesterday.  It was even after supper time that I put the lights and ornaments on my tree.  Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love to hurry up and decorate my tree.  It just didn't happen this year.  Oh well...it's done now and I must say it is gorgeous!  I went back to traditional Christmas colors this year.  Last year, I used only pink ornaments, the year before that it was pink, blue, green, and purple.  This year, it's red balls and silver stars.  I've always used only white lights on my trees for as long as I can remember - has to do with my childhood.  My family always used multi-colored lights and I always wanted to try white lights, but they wouldn't do it.  So, I use multi-colored lights outside and white lights inside.  This year, I decided to use white and red lights.  I was going to buy new white lights this year (I've had mine forever) and just get a some red lights and sit and mix them up, but luckily Target knew of my plans and decided to sell strands of lights that have white, frosted white, and red so that saved me a LOT of trouble!  Thank you, Target!!  Honey-Buns was not thrilled with the idea of red lights being added, until he saw them.  He even said "Our tree looks so sharp this year!".  Yay - it's Honey-Buns approved!  :)

Sorry my blog is later than usual.  I had trouble uploading photos again today and decided to troubleshoot it.  Apparently, my pop-up blocker was on for this site.  I fixed it!

I'm doing yesterday's workout today.  Just a reminder:
   5 rounds for time
7 dumbbell squat clean thrusters with 20-30 lbs
      20 sit-ups

I got this!
**************************
Well...I was able to work out today, just not completely.  I took Addy upstairs with me because Honey-Buns had to go and check on our drivers/deliveries.  I set her on a pillow with her soft blankie on top and she watched me do a complete first round.  During the second round, she started fussing a little when I was doing the sit-ups, so I picked her up and held her "airplane" like while doing sit-ups.  She seemed to enjoy those, but when I put her back down to do thrusters again, she got really mad.  She wouldn't even calm down while doing the airplane sit-ups - I was able to get 10 of them done, then I stood up and we did 20 squats.  Then, I decided to just get on the treadmill.  I was barefoot, so I only went 2.0 speed, and I held her the whole time.  I was really wishing my carrier was upstairs, but it was downstairs and I wasn't going to stop and go get it.  We walked for 10 minutes on the treadmill, the last minute and half of her screaming!  I jumped on the scales with her, then compared to without her.  She now weighs 12.5 pounds!!  At least I did something, right?  I'm thinking she didn't like the Offspring - they were who I listened to today.  I'll have to switch it up and see what kind of music she likes.  I know she loves her xylophone and she has a toy we call "baby crack" because it puts her right to sleep - it's a Little Einstein musical toy.  No matter if she's pitching a fit or not, she zones out the minute that thing starts playing and just stares at the lights and 9 times out of 10, she falls asleep.  Crazy kid!!  :)

Monday!!

I'm not sure what is going on with blogger this morning, but I am unable to add a picture to my blog.  I tried to do it both using my Google Chrome browser and Internet Explorer, so it's definitely a website issue.  Oh well - hopefully they'll have it working correctly tomorrow 'cause I really like adding pictures and quotes!  :)

I'm going to be honest and just say I knew I would not have time to work out last week, so I didn't even bother looking at blogs or anything.  I will say I did do a LOT of walking and moving stuff around, so I'm counting that as working out.  No really - I did.  My butt is even sore this morning (and has been just about all weekend) to prove it!  I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but my son has had to move back home into the basement.  It's a good thing I moved the office upstairs, huh?  His roommate worked for his father's company and that went out of business.  My son knew he couldn't afford to pay the rent and monthly bills by himself, so he asked if he could come back home for a little bit and we agreed.  I helped him move the majority of his stuff a few weeks ago.  He left some stuff for the roommate to continue to use until he moved out.  Well, we moved the remainder of the stuff last Wednesday and just stuck it in my garage.  Yes, it was overflowing - I only had a direct path to walk through to get to my vehicle.  So yesterday, he and I moved the stuff out of the garage and into the basement.  Let me just say...stairs.  Lots of them!  As we would come back up, we'd bring a load of stuff to take to Goodwill.  I had a lot of stuff down there and he went through his stuff and purged during this move.  No lie...my van was full.  And by full, I mean the entire middle area where the wheelchair goes and the entire back part.  Thank goodness for Goodwill!  I'm hoping to go to FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children) today to donate Hayley's old wheelchair and stander that are taking up more space in my garage.  I want to burn a fire in the fireplace and I can't because I don't have wood and I can't get wood because we can't get to the storage spot in our garage!  It's a catch 22!!  Katy, Addy, and I all went shopping on Friday at the Mall of Georgia.  We got there around 1:30/2:00 and yes, it was packed but we were able to get front row parking at Dillard's which was awesome timing for us!  The mall was packed and I saw more men out shopping on Black Friday than I've ever seen before.  I used to go with the 6:00 a.m. crowd, but switched to the middle of the night (2:00 a.m.) crowd for the past few years.  With everyone going cuckoo for Thanksgiving night shopping (not me, some things you just don't need to do during family time) I figured I wouldn't go this year.   But, Katy and I decided last minute to go.  It was actually pretty calm and everyone was very friendly - it was just crowded.  Addy is a great little shopper!  Katy called on Saturday to see if I wanted to go to Target with her since we never made it on Friday, so I said "sure".  My son wanted to go because he needed some new shoes, so off to Target, Kohl's, and Georgia Square Mall (in Athens) we went.  I also did not plan to go Christmas tree shopping yesterday since Katy said they were going next weekend.  I figured I'd go one day this week - it's WAY less crowded on a week day, but Katy called and said they decided to go yesterday so yes - I now have my Christmas tree.  It's not early for me and a tree...Honey-Buns always makes me wait until December to get my tree 'cause he's afraid it will die before Christmas.  Luckily, December seemed like it came early since Thanksgiving was so late.  I don't have lights or decorations on the tree yet, but I'll do that today sometime.

Addy's other grandmother has decided she wants to keep her on Mondays, so that is the new plan.  Honey-Buns picks her up in the mornings and I'll do the first feeding, then take her to Nonnie's house.  I'll pick her up around 4:45 and take her to meet Katy like normal.  Katy doesn't want Nonnie bringing her because Nonnie has four-year old twins that would be with her and she thinks that's too much of a distraction.  So, to make Katy comfortable, we're sticking with the original pick-up/drop-off plan.

I am working out today.  I have not decided if I'm going to do a run (which I really need to do) or if I'm going to do the HIIT Mamas workout.  Regardless...it's getting done!!  :)

5 rounds for time:
7 dumbbell squat clean thrusters w/20-30 lbs
   20 sit-ups

I'll post my results later!

Just a quick note....

Just a quick note - I took Hayley to her surgery follow-up appointment yesterday.  It was at 10:30 right across from Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta.  Can you believe I left at 9:10 and did not get there until 10:30 on the dot?  Traffic was horrible!!  I ended up with a stress headache that just would not go away yesterday afternoon, so no work out then.  Today is a Special Olympics event.  After doing payroll and billing and the event, it doesn't look like I'll have time to work out today either.  I'll get something done over the weekend.  Y'all have a good one!!

It does not matter how slow you go, so long as you do not stop.  Well...I'm definitely slow!  ;)

You guessed it - no time yesterday for a workout.  Addy kept fighting sleep - not really sure why.  She fell asleep at her normal time yesterday morning and I laid her down on the sofa to nap, but she woke up screaming just 30 minutes later so I picked her up and got her back to sleep, but had to hold her for the duration of her nap.  Crazy, spoiled little girl!!  Then, yesterday afternoon....she fell asleep and woke up again just 30 minutes later and would not go back to sleep.  Every time Honey-Buns got her so I could go work out, she screamed bloody murder - so, no workout.  Hoping today goes better.  She'll just have to be upstairs and watch me run on the treadmill - yep...it's a run day.  Yay!  :)

I'm doing the runner training for beginners again today.  I'm not looking to improve my time just yet.  My goal is to do the entire thing without holding on to the treadmill.  I made it through the warm-up and two run/walk segments on Monday, so here's hoping for three today!  :)

5 minute warm-up walk
4 x run 100 meters
     walk 300 meters
5 minute cool-down walk

Filthy Fifty

Filthy Fifty - yep...we're doing it!  I have to say, I'm amazed to see the pull-ups on here as "jumping pull-ups".  It says the same thing even on the CrossFit Brand X site, although they recommend you to NOT do jumping pull-ups.  It causes RHABDO, which is pretty gross.  If you don't know what it is, Google it.  Serious stuff.  Anyway - they do say "don't do jumping pull-ups" on the modification post.  Lucky for me, I've discovered that jumping pull-ups kill my elbows so I've stopped doing them and have been doing beginner pull-ups.  I place my aerobic step in the closet (my pull-up bar is in the closet doorway) and I put my feet on it, hands on the bar, plank my body and pull-up.  I have to say, I can tell the difference since doing these.  My back/shoulder muscles are usually pretty sore the day after, so I know I'm doing something right.  :)

Just to spell it out - here's the Filthy Fifty:
   50 - box jumps
        - pull-ups
        - kettle bell swings, 20#
        - walking lunges
        - knees to elbows
        - push press, 20#
        - back extensions
        - wall ball, 10#
        - burpees
        - double unders (sub tuck jumps)
*Modifications are:   35 of everything for pack, 20 of everything for puppies

I believe I'm going to do the pack modification of 35 of everything.  I will also substitute tuck jumps for double unders, since I can't do those.  I've also read on the Brand X website that doing extra single unders isn't a good substitute for double-unders because they don't have you going through the same motions - so tuck jumps it is!  :)

Don't give up because you had a bad day.

Don't give up because you had a bad day.  Forgive yourself and do better tomorrow.
:)

I am happy to say that I can breathe through both nostrils again!  You never know how much you miss that until it's taken away from you.  I don't believe I have ever slept so much as I have this past week.  Granted, I was taking medicine for my head cold, but still.  I took Contac every 6 hours during the day, then I had to switch to Nyquil just so I could sleep at night.  Even then, I ended up keeping the Nyquil by my bed and whenever I did wake up to blow my nose, I would take a couple of sips of Nyquil - and when I say "sip", I really mean sip...that stuff is nasty!  lol  I fell asleep on the sofa Friday night around 9:00/9:30.  Honey-Buns woke me up at 11:00 to go to bed, then I slept until 10:15 on Saturday morning!  Almost the same thing on Saturday night - only it was closer to 10:00 before I fell asleep, but then I slept until 9:30 yesterday morning.  OH - I also napped on Saturday afternoon!!  Crazy, huh?  I guess my body needed that rest, because I felt so much better yesterday.  Anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a napper, nor do I need a lot of sleep.  So, I tend to sleep a lot whenever I don't feel good.  I'm just glad that I'm better.  Now, to get back into my workouts!

I will have time to work out today.  Honey-Buns is picking up Addy this morning as usual and I'll do her morning feeding, but then I'm taking her over to her other grandmother's house where she'll stay the rest of the day.  Nonnie (other grandmother) is off on Mondays and has been wanting to keep her every Monday, and actually did once, but then she broke her finger and hasn't been able to since.  Well, now her finger is healed and she's ready to start back.  I don't like it - I never was good at sharing, lol!!  I'll get over it.  :)

I am running today.  I plan to do the beginner runner training at least three times a week.  I will do this without holding on to my treadmill and with my treadmill at a 2 incline.  I read somewhere that you should incline your treadmill so it will better simulate running outdoors.  I don't know if this is true or not, but that's what I intend to do.

   Warm-up walk for 5 minutes
   Run 100 meters, Walk 300 meters x 4
   Cool-down walk for 5 minutes

My goal is to run at 4.3 and walk at 3.3, again - all without holding on.  I think I can.  I think I can.  I think I can.  :)  Fingers crossed!!
*************************
Yes!   Workout #1 is d-o-n-e!!!  :)  Unfortunately, I was not able to do the whole thing without holding on, but I did make it through two run/walk segments hands-free!  AND, I stayed on 0-incline.  I tried it  at 2, but quickly changed my mind.  My lungs are burning, but I think that's more from the cold I'm getting over than anything.  I went for a total of 1.5 miles and it took me 27:54.  Here's a breakdown of what I did:

Warm-up walk
   2.5 speed, 1 minute
   2.7 speed, 1 minute
   2.9 speed, 1 minute
   3.1 speed, 1 minute
   3.3 speed, 1 minute
Run/Walk segments - 4 times
   4.3 run, 100 meters
   3.3 walk, 300 meters
Cool-down walk
   3.1 speed, 1 minute
   2.9 speed, 1 minute
   2.7 speed, 1.5 minutes
2.5 speed until 1.5 miles reached

Let me just say - I closed the vent in that room a couple of weeks ago because we were starting to use the heat and I can't stand for it to be so hot while I work out.  Well, today is an unusually warm day (73 degrees) and our heat has not been on for a couple of days, but boy - was it hot up there!  I came downstairs and normally I start to freeze before I finish my blog, but not today!  My daughter and son-in-law are coming over for supper, so I'll get to see Addy again for a little bit today - yay!!

I am sick...just not sick enough to get off of Facebook!

I am sick.  Just not sick enough to get off of Facebook.  lol -This is ALWAYS true, isn't it?  ;)

Yes...I'm still sick.  I did go get some meds yesterday and am taking them 'round the clock, along with juice, etc.  I keep falling asleep within the first hour of taking my medicine, sleep for about an hour, then I can breathe when I wake up!  Luckily, Honey-Buns is here to help with Addy.  She and I both fell asleep yesterday for her afternoon nap!  Honey-Buns woke me up at 4:45 and asked if I was going to take her home or did I want him to - I suggested he do it for safety sake.  lol  -  I did NOT sleep good at all last night.  I think I woke up every 45 minutes to an hour.  I just couldn't sleep, then I couldn't breathe.  So tonight?  I'm taking Nyquil.  That usually knocks me out for a good night's sleep.

Not sure if I'll work out today or not.  I just don't have the energy and if everything stays true to normal, when I do have the energy and I try to do something (like yesterday - laundry and straightening up), I feel even MORE exhausted afterwards - so I might just take it easy again today.  I do know I can't wait until Addy's morning nap time and she's not even here yet!  lol

Y'all have a good day and STAY WARM!  It's cold here in Georgia this morning.

Being sick....

Being sick....I love this - it's SO true, isn't it?  The reason I posted it?  Yep...it looks like I have Addy's nose problems - only mine is a head cold.  I'm going to get some meds and juice this morning to try to keep it from turning into anything else.  I feel horrible!!  I blew my nose and sneezed and blew my nose and sneezed and blew my nose and sneezed all day yesterday - had the best intentions of working out, I just didn't have any energy.  I'm hoping to get a workout in today.  I plan to do the run training thing, plus "Fran" from CrossFit.  Here's what it will look like:

5 minute warm-up walk
4 x run 100 meters, walk 300 meters - withOUT holding on to the treadmill
5 minute cool-down walk
"Fran"
   21-15-9
thrusters w/50# (calls for 65# for women, but I only have 50)
      pull-ups (I'll do beginner pull-ups)

Y'all wish me luck today.  I've already had to stop and sneeze and blow three times while typing this!  AARRGGHHH!!!!

CrossFit...making a new muscle hurt every day.

CrossFit...making a new muscle hurt every day.  This is absolutely, without a doubt, 100% true!  lol - I am amazed at how many new muscles I am discovering in my body!  :)

Well, yesterday was NOT a good day for me.  Poor little Addy had MAJOR tummy troubles yesterday.  I think she cried more than she didn't - it at least seemed like it to me!  She also did not sleep much because of her tummy.  I think she might have slept for a total of 1 1/2, maybe 2 hours and when she did (finally) fall asleep, there was NO way I was moving that child.  She was miserable.  I spoke to my daughter this morning and she said Addy had a couple more fits last night at home as well.  Fingers crossed that today is a much better day for her (and me!)

Since I didn't work out yesterday (!), I'm doing yesterday's workout today.  I'm thinking of switching it up a bit - I might just do all of the running together and then do as many sit-ups as I can.  Again, I'll see once I get up there!

Tell someone that you "work out" and no one bats an eye...

Tell someone that you "work out" and no one bats an eye.  Say that you "do CrossFit" and everyone loses their minds.

I'm going to start off by saying (again!) OMG!!!  I canNOT believe how sore and tired I was after Friday's 5k run.  It was just ridiculous.  First off, I fell asleep on the sofa around 9:00 Friday night...Honey-Buns woke me up to go to bed at 11:00.  Then, I slept all night - NOT like a baby!  I was so sore achy, especially my hip flexors...wth?  Anyway, Honey-Buns woke me up close to 9:00 on Saturday morning to tell me he was going to work, then going to see his mom.  I could not believe I had slept so long!  Even though I took two aspirin Friday night, my aches and pains were crazy...the top of my left foot was killing me anytime I bent it or wiggle my toes, my thighs were achy, my hip flexors throbbed all night long, then on Saturday the pain switched to my shins!  I'm okay today, thank Goodness!  I just can't believe how much I hurt this weekend - I really need to get back in my routine.  I don't like pain!  lol

I'm doing last Friday's CrossFit White Head workout.  Yes, it has running and believe it or not that's what I want to do.  My plan is to try to do some kind of running three times a week.  I know, I know.  I've said this before, but I really, really, really mean it this time!!  ;)

   Run 400 meters
   50 sit-ups
   Run 400 meters
   40 sit-ups
   Run 400 meters
   30 sit-ups
   Run 400 meters
   20 sit-ups
   Run 400 meters
   10 sit-ups

I'm really going to improve my running.  Even though I force myself to run, I'm still holding on to the treadmill when I do it.  I came across a beginner running program (another one!) and I do believe I'm going to try it out and see what happens.  This is NOT a 5k training, it's just for beginner runners to run 1 mile.  You are supposed to run 3-5 times per week (sounds doable).  Do a 5 minute warm-up walk, then you run 100 meters, then walk 300 meters - repeating this 4 times and then do a cool-down walk for 5 minutes.  Train this way until you feel you can increase your running distance - going up to 200 meter run segments, then 300, then 400 - running a full mile without stopping.  You are not supposed to do a slow walk during your walking time.  The example I saw said to run at 4.0, then walk at 3.0.  I have been running at 4.3, and walking at 3.0 but on Friday I ran at 4.1 and walked at 3.3.  I'm going to play with my speed and find one that works for me, WITHOUT holding on to my treadmill and using an incline of 2.  I will do this for today's run segments.  I haven't decided if I'll do the warm-up walk or just get to it.  I'll decide once I get upstairs - as usual!  I've really got to improve - and I have, I just want to do mo' better!  ;)

If life was easy, where would adventures be?

If life was easy, where would adventures be?  Another truth!  Well...yesterday was a no-go for the 5k.  Addy wasn't feeling well at all.  She alternated from a stuffy nose to a runny nose all day, and wanted to be held all day - not only that, but Gramps just wouldn't do!  Every time he had her, she'd cry and cry - then I'd get her and she would calm down.  Poor thing.  Thank goodness it wasn't payroll or billing day yesterday!  lol

I do plan to do the 5k today, so don't fret.  I'm kind of glad I didn't do it yesterday.  I have been so sore from my other workouts.  By yesterday afternoon, whatever muscles are near your rib cage were killing me!  They're still sore this morning.  That is from the beginner pull-ups that I did.  I saw a video at Crossfit Brand X's website.  Get this - it was a video of teaching kids how to do pull-ups.  Yeah...that's a great perspective, huh?  Anyway - I placed my step/box in the closet and had my feet on it - then I'd plank my body and do pull-ups with my pull-up bar that's on the closet door.  And yes, I completely removed the door from this closet because it is not used as a closet - I keep my smaller workout stuff in in (weights, box/step, mat, etc.).  You won't believe how sore my upper body is from doing them this way - even the area around my shoulder blades are sore.  Obviously, I'm working muscles not used to being used!  I've seen where people do jumping pull-ups, but I have read several articles where those are not good - they cause RHABDO.  I won't explain what that is, just Google it.  It's pretty scary.  I don't like jumping pull-ups because they make my elbow area on my arms super sore, so I was looking for alternatives to doing them.  I'm glad I came across the video.  If I ever do a real pull-up, I'm sure you all will hear me shouting with glee!  lol

Y'all wish me luck today!
************************
Wow..just, wow.  Even though I haven't ran much lately, I have to say I'm impressed with myself.  Granted, I didn't break any new records (bummer), but I didn't regress much either (yay)!  So...here's the down and dirty:

5k = 3.106 miles - 52:44
1 mile mark - 16:52
2 mile mark - 33:54
3 mile mark - 50:58

I did a 6k on July 4th, which is 3.73 miles - I actually did 3.75, averaging 17.08/mile.  Today averaged out to 16.88/mile, so improvement there!  :)

The last time I did the Army test run of 2 miles was on September 30th and I did it in 32:19, so a little slip back there, but not what my beginner time was so I'm happy with that.  Especially since the first 5 minutes of today's 5k was a warm-up walk.  I started at 2.5 for 1 minute, then bumped it up .2 every minute until I made it to the 5 minute mark, so my 2 mile time probably would have improved if I had started running right away like I did on September 30th.  I'm happy with my performance today.  I started off running 2 minutes, then walking 1 minute.  I did that 4 times, then switched to running 100 meters, walking 200 meters all the way until the end.  I also sped up my walking segments to 3.3 (it was 3.0) and all run segments were at 4.1 (I've been doing them at 4.0).  Overall, very pleased!  It feels great to be back on track somewhat.  :)

Y'all have a good weekend!

I plan on having such an awesome run, Morgan Freeman should narrate it.

I plan on having such a awesome run, Morgan Freeman should narrate it.  Ha!  LOVE this!!  Someone posted this on Facebook yesterday, and I just HAD to borrow it!  And while I do plan to run a bit today, I'm not sure it's going to be an awesome run.  I am ridiculously sore from my TWO workouts this week.  I can really tell I haven't been working out.  Oh well...back to working out the kinks!

In case you haven't guessed, today is a run day.  And not just any kind of run day.  Oh no...it's a 5k run day!  Yep - 3.106 miles.  Yay.  Maybe.  ;)

I was wanting to go to the park with Addy and at least walk the trails, but wouldn't you know it's raining outside today - argh!  So, it looks like the treadmill for me.  I will try to run as much as I can, but I haven't been running lately and my legs are so sore.  I'm hoping once I get up and going that everything will be okay.  Actually, I'm pretty positive it will be!  :)  Y'all wish me luck!!

Don't complain about things...

Don't complain about things you're not willing to work hard to change.  Truth!  I'm posting this for two reasons...first and foremost because yesterday was an election day.  I voted, did you?  I'm extremely disappointed by the number of people that voted here yesterday.  Don't get me wrong - I don't know/have any relatives/friends that were running for a position.  I'm just tired of seeing/hearing people bitch and moan about politicians and every day folks in office and what a lousy job they're doing, blah, blah, blah - then when it comes time to actually get those people OUT of office, no one shows up, so they jump on the back on the bitching bandwagon when nothing changes.  It just drives me crazy.  I don't know how many of the 14,000+ people who live in my town are registered voters, but only 751 showed up at the polls and voted.  In a neighboring town of 621, only 31 voted.  That is just sad to me.  Granted, these were city council elections this time, but still - according to our local newspapers' comment sections - there are TONS of people bitching about things the council has been doing!  Come on people, how hard is it to go vote?  Which brings me back to my second reason for posting today's quote...how hard is it to get in a work out?  lol  I'm trying, I'm trying!  I think I'm okay as long as I still have the "I didn't work out yesterday" guilt thing going on.  I know I'll be up shit creek if I ever don't feel bad for not working out.  So, as long as it's on my mind then that is a good thing!!  lol

Today's HIIT Mamas workout:
   3 rounds for time
      15 front squats w/40 lbs
      15 pull-ups
      15 push press w/20 lbs
      15 knees to elbows
15 hang squat cleans w/20 lbs
      15 back extensions

The only thing I'm changing in today's workout is the weights prescribed.  I think I'm going to do 40 lbs (or close to it with my adjustable dumbbells) for all weight exercises.  I'll at least do it that way for the first round...then I'll see what's up and adjust as necessary.  I must say, I love these workouts where no shoes are required!!  lol
*************************
Got another work out in!!  Woot-woot!!  Honey-Buns just HAD to go to our truck yard, so I took the swing and Addy upstairs to my exercise room.  Here's what she looked like at the beginning of my workout:
She looks like she's thinking "What in the world are you doing, Grammie?"  lol  Now...here's what she looked like by the end of my workout:

Bored!  Even Pitbull blasting from my Ipod couldn't keep her awake!  I just turned down the music and turned off the lights and left her napping.  She has since woken up, starving of course!  lol  Baby love!!

My time was 15:02 and yes, it could have been way better but I just couldn't go like I used to.  Normally I can kick it in on the last round, but not today.  I also used 38 lbs for all weighted exercises and my inner thighs are S-O-R-E from yesterday and now today as well.  It feels good to work out again!!  :)

Be stronger than your excuses.

Be stronger than your excuses.  Okay...I REALLY need to remember this AND practice it!!  I actually a window of opportunity to work out yesterday, but I fell asleep while holding Addy.  I had just got her to sleep and was going to lay her down and go work out while Honey-Buns was here yesterday afternoon.  He said he didn't wake me up because I rarely fall asleep during the day and he figured I must have been exhausted.  Which is kind of sweet, but really...I took a nap?  I never nap because whenever I do, I usually wake up in the middle of the night and can't sleep.  Well, apparently I was pretty tired because I not only went to bed about 30 minutes earlier than normal last night, but I did not wake up AT ALL until my alarm clock went off this morning.  I think I must still be catching up on the sleep I missed while Hayley was in the hospital last week.  I just did not sleep well while there.  Oh well...let's try this again!

My plan is to do yesterday's missed workout and just be a day behind everyone this week.  I'm also doing the modified version from Brand X, but it's basically the same as HIIT Mamas just fewer reps.
   30-20-10
Wall ball shots w/4 lb ball (it's what I have)
      Box jumps, 11" box (ditto)
      Kettlebell swings w/24 lb dumbbell

Thanks for hanging in there with me guys.  Some days I just think I'll just give it up, but my intentions are good and still there.  It's just getting on a schedule and in a groove again.  I'll get it - just don't let me give up!
************************
Who got a work out in today?  This girl!!  That's who!!!  I did the modified version listed above (30-20-10) for a time of 10:44.  I used a 4 lb. ball for wall ball, 11" box for box jumps, and 25 lb dumbbell for kettlebell swings.  I am SO out of it - my time would have been WAY better but I had to stop and catch my breath a couple of times.  I got one in...woot-woot!!!  :)

If each day is a gift, I'd like to know where I can return Mondays.

If each day is a gift, I'd like to know where I can return Mondays.  :)

Wow - where to start?  Last Tuesday, I took Hayley to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta to meet up with her neurologist to try to refill her pump using a fluoro machine (x-ray).   Well, they got the needle inserted in the right spot, but when they tried to extract the old medicine nothing would come out.  So, we flipped her over onto her side and they looked at the pump and discovered the reservoir was on the wrong side - which meant her pump had somehow flipped completely over.  We went through the ER to get admitted and finally made it into a room around 8:30 or so on Tuesday night.  They did surgery Wednesday morning and told me we could possibly go home Wednesday evening.  Please note - every time we have had this surgery, they have told me we could possibly go home that same night - it's never happened AND it didn't happen this time either.  Even though Hayley has never had any issues with anesthesia or morphene, she started throwing up around 2:00/3:00 Wednesday afternoon and continued all the way through until 12:30 early Thursday morning.  They had given her Zofran, but that didn't help, so they switched to Phenergen (?) suppositories and that seemed to do the trick.  She had been put on fluids via IV overnight Tuesday because they weren't sure what time they could squeeze her into surgery and thought it would be closer to 12:00 on Wednesday, but apparently an 8:30 time opened up and her neuro-surgeon jumped on it.  Dr. Wruble came by Thursday morning and was planning on sending her home that evening, but she looked so horrible (still green and sickly) he decided to keep her overnight.  I'm glad they did kept her.  I can handle anything but throw-up!  I can clean it up all day - that doesn't bother me...it's watching/hearing them throw up that gets to me.  I told the nurses I was taking advantage of them during all of those episodes while we were there!  We finally made it home on Friday around 1:00 and then I had to go straight upstairs to the office and do payroll checks.  I was so exhausted and so happy to be back home in my bed.  Normally, Honey-Buns is at the hospital with me but he was unable to go there this time because Katy didn't have anyone else to keep Addy during the day, so he got baby duty all by himself.  I think he was just as exhausted as I was!  Needless to say, I slept almost 11 hours overnight Friday into Saturday.  I do believe I caught up on my sleep!  lol

I'm hoping (really, really hard) to get back in a normal routine soon.  How crazy is it that today's HIIT Mamas workout is the Hero WOD from Brand X last Monday?  And, no...I did not do the workout last week but I'm doing SOMETHING this week - even if it's just getting on the treadmill.  I've got to get busy - I'll never make my goal of being Army fit by the end of the year if I don't!

HIIT Mamas:
   50-40-30-20-10...10 lb ball/18" box/20 lb kettlebell (Brand X women:  14 lb ball/20" box/26 lb kb)
   40-30-20-10, X pack...14 lb ball/20"box/26 lb kettlebell)
   30-20-10, X puppies...10-14 lb ball/15-20" box/15-24 lb kettlebell)
      Wall ball shots
      Box jumps
      Kettlebell swings

Like I said earlier, I'm doing SOMETHING today and I really hope it's today's workout!  lol  Hayley is not going to school today, she was exhausted by bedtime yesterday, so I know she won't accomplish much at school if she's tired, so that saves me a little time there but JEEZ...I need to get busy!!

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Okay - well...my week has gone to hell in a hand basket!  I took Hayley to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta @ Egleston yesterday for her appointment with her neurologist to get her pump refilled using an x-ray (fluoro) machine.  Well, the found the spot to hit - had the needle there, pulled back to remove the "old" medicine and...nothing.  So, they turned her onto her side and took an x-ray of the pump that way and discovered it was flipped over.  So...Hayley was admitted through the ER - we made it to a room last night around 8:30.  She had surgery first thing this morning and we are still at Egleston.  We're supposed to go home in the morning, but I don't know if that's still a go or not because she hasn't been able to keep anything down and has been throwing up for a bit now.  She's resting right now and I'm hoping she can get some broth or something in her before too much longer - just scared to push the issue right now.  So...y'all wish us luck on going home tomorrow.  We're going to need it!!

Busy week - day 1

I hope you all had a good weekend!  I had a busy one, to be followed by another busy week and an out of town trip!  YAY!  On Saturday, I went to Athens to buy some Halloween stuff.  I have a big, wooden Hairy Dog (UGA Bulldog's mascot) on my front porch.  He was in the basement in our "boys room" that was not being used at all for that purpose, so I had a couple of our guys move him around to the front porch.  I decorate him for the seasons/holidays.  I made him a masquerade mask out of cardboard and needed a cape to put around his shoulders for his Halloween costume and all of our local stores were sold out of capes!  I went to a Halloween store in Athens and got one, but I must say I was disappointed in that Halloween store.  It was just strange.  Even my daughter thought it was strange as well.  We went to a local pumpkin patch farm yesterday.  That's my family in the picture above.  Honey-Buns (Perry) is the one squatting, keeping a hand on our Addy pea-pod who is sitting with Hayley in the chair.  In the back row (l-r) are my son (Kirk), daughter (Katy), and son-in-law (Andy).  It was a gorgeous day in Georgia and this week is supposed to be more of the same - mid to upper 70's, sunny!  Love it!

Honey-Buns and I are going to Phenix City, AL this weekend for a big race held at East Alabama Motor Speedway.  He's leaving on Thursday and I'll follow on Friday.  I have to stay to take and pick up Hayley at school, plus keep Addy.  Katy is getting off early on Friday afternoon and she will come here to take care of Hayley for me.  She's the one who will get her up/down in bed and dressed/undressed.  Kirk will be here as well since he's off this weekend and he'll keep an eye on Hayley when Katy won't be here.  The hardest part of taking care of her is the whole diaper change/dressing/undressing issues.  Other than that, she has her own stuff she likes to do.  I SO appreciate my kids for helping me out with her so I can get a break and go watch Honey-Buns do his thing racing!!  :)  Now, all I have to do is make sure we get everything together that we need.  We "camp out" at the track - I don't sleep in a tent, but a camper or just the back of the car hauler is close enough to real camping for me!  lol  Plus, I have to get my Halloween stuff out.  It seems like I get later and later every year.  Oh well...it will be ready.

Today's workout is from CrossFit Brand X's site.
   "Morrison" puppy version
30-20-10 (pack version is 40-30-20-10 and women version is 50-40-30-20-10)
Wall ball shots, 10-14 lb ball (pack and women 14 lb ball)
Box jumps, 15-20" box (pack and women 20")
Kettlebell swings, 15-24# (pack and women 1 pood = 36 lbs)

I should be able to get a workout in today.  I see no reason not to.  I plan to take Addy outside with me while I get my Halloween stuff out this afternoon (if she's awake).  She can swing while I work - she loves it outside!!  If she's asleep, then I'll be using my monitors today.  :)

If you can't fly, then run....

If you can't fly, then run.  If you can't run, then walk.  If you can't walk, then crawl.  But whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.

My thoughts today:  YAY!!!  It's Friday!!  Ohhh....it's a run day.

See the difference?  lol - It's okay.  I need to run.  Notice I did not say I "want" to run, or I'd "like" to run...just I "need" to run.  Yep...that's what I need...to run...yep.  ;)

I know I won't be working out this morning, because it's payroll and billing day, but I have already told Honey-Buns I'm running later this afternoon in my workout, so he's prepared.  :)

HIIT Mamas:
   3 rounds for time
      Run 500 meters
      20 sit-ups
      15 wall-ball shots

I hate to see sit-ups (or any "floor" exercise) mixed up with running workouts.  I tend to not want to get up off of the floor to get back on that "damn" treadmill.  But, at least I have wall-balls to do before getting back on the treadmill, and we all know I love wall-balls.  So, maybe that will make it better.  Of course, I still see me laying in the floor, trying to catch  my breath before actually starting the sit-ups.  Hmmm...maybe that's not a good thing after all!  lol  Oh well, it is what it is.  :)

Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.

Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.  Yes, they do!  As you've already noticed, I did not work out yesterday.  I had to work a lot yesterday.  I forgot about the third quarter ending in September, and had to get the rest of our trip sheets together to send in for our fuel tax reports.  Addy did nap yesterday morning in her bed (yay!) but it was only for an hour.  Needless to say, my trip sheets weren't done so I had to stop and take care of her.  It wasn't until 3:00 that I was able to get back in the office and finish them up.  It was close to 4:00 and I still had to go to the store to pick up stuff for spaghetti.  When I got back, it was straight to the kitchen to get it started then I had to pack up Addy and get her ready to go home.  Honey-Buns actually took her home while I finished cooking supper.  Just another crazy day in the Crowe household!!

Today's going to be crazy too, but if I should be able to fit in HIIT Mamas workout for today - it doesn't sound like a really long workout.  Something is better than nothing, right?  If you remember, my brother was released from prison in May and he was staying in a half-way house in Atlanta.  He transferred into a christian based rehabilitation program in Gainesville sometime in August.  Well, he hasn't been allowed phone contact or anything (just letters) until he made it to the discipleship program.  I'm happy to say he finally made it and actually called me yesterday using his director's phone.  He had just a pay-as-you-go cellphone that they kept locked in a safe until yesterday.  I went online to pay for it so it could be turned back on and discovered that if you missed two consecutive billing periods it would be disconnected.  So, I'm going to Gainesville this morning to help him get it reactivated and to have lunch with him.  Honey-Buns is going to take care of Addy (keep your fingers crossed - she tends to give him a hard time whenever I'm not here) and I should be back around 12:00 or so.  I'll be so glad when everyone settles down into a normal routine again.  I really miss that.  I really, really do!

Today's HIIT Mamas workout:
   21-15-9
      Dead-lifts w/40 lbs
      Push-ups
      Leg lifts

See!  It doesn't sound too bad, does it?  Here's hoping to get one in!!
*************************
7:08 - I don't know if this is a good time or not, since I haven't looked at what everyone else is doing at HIIT Mamas yet.  I will say that I feel really stupid for not doing this a couple of weeks ago when it was prescribed - I think on 9/27/13 or something like that.  I do remember the workout and I kept saying I'd do this one several times, but never did.  Really, Berta?  You couldn't find 7 minutes in your busy day to do this?  Shaking my head at myself.  Oh well...I did another workout this week!  YAY!!  :)

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

You can't make footprints on the sands of time by sitting on your butt...and who wants to make buttprints?  lol - I came across this and thought it was too funny!!  :)

Guess what?  I am sore this morning.  Yep...sore.  It's not too bad, which is great - but it's there.  My outer thighs were achy last night, but no issues with my legs this morning.  My sore spot is around my rib cage.  Damn you, burpees!!  ;)

I'm so glad I moved my workout time and actually got a workout in.  I mentioned taking Hayley to the doctor to get her pump refilled yesterday.  Well, that was a waste of time.  The Baclofen pump is located in her left abdomen area.  This constantly dispenses Baclofen (a muscle relaxer) to her spine, which allows her legs to bend.  She's be straight as a board without it and would not even be able to sit in her wheelchair (or any chair!)  It has a small area in the center of it about the size of my pinkie nail that you remove/add the medicine to.  The nurses use a template shaped like the pump.  They have to poke and prod to make sure they have the template lined up correctly, then there's a small circle in the middle where they are to put the needle, which is about 3-4 inches long.  Once they hit the "spot", they withdraw any unused medicine out and put new medicine in.  We do this every 6 months - we used to do this every 3 months, but the newer pump holds more.  Anyway, they stuck her repeatedly in different areas yesterday to try to find the correct "spot" to no avail.  We ended up coming home without a refill and have to go to Egleston Children's Hospital on Tuesday so her doctor can use an x-ray machine to see the exact positioning/location to hit.  Her doctor told me she's requested an ultrasound machine in her budget for the past two years and they now have more doctors in their group, so hopefully they'll get one.  She said it would help in locating the refill spot.  I hope they get one - Hayley will always have a medicine pump and I know she will benefit from it.  Our appointment yesterday was at 12:45.  We left the doctor's office at 3:30.  Hayley cried and everything while they were working.  She's on a round of antibiotics to avoid infection from all of the pokes and needles.  That's standard practice though, and she usually gets antibiotics so that's not a big deal.  It's just a nervy thing for her to have to go through.

I'm behind a day on workouts this week.  I did Monday's workout yesterday, so today I am doing yesterday's workout from HIIT Mamas.
As many rounds as possible in 18 minutes
      15 box jumps
      12 push press w/20 lbs
      9 knees-to-elbows

Again - my workout time is in the morning.  Right now it's between 10:00 and 11:00 - Addy has been napping everyday at this time, so I'm sticking with it as long as I can!

Life always offers you a second chance...

Life always offers you a second chance...it's called tomorrow.  LOVE this!  Why?  Well, apparently I need these second chances...and third...and fourth...and so on...and so on...
:)

I did not get in my workout time yesterday.  Honey-Buns left to check on things even AFTER I told him I wanted to work out!  It's okay - something was wrong with one of our trucks and he had to oversee the repairs and make sure it was done correctly.  I guess it was okay, since those are our money-makers.  I was going to workout after taking Addy home, but I had one of the worst headaches I've ever had in a long time, so that was that.  I'm doing yesterday's workout this morning while Addy is taking her morning nap - NO MATTER WHAT!  I have to...it's the only chance I'll get today.  I have to take Hayley to her doctor in Athens to get her Baclofen pump refilled.  We have to be there at 12:45, which means I'll have to leave at 12:00 to pick her up from school.  Whenever I do a lot of running errands like that, I tend to be SO sluggish once I get home.  Which is why I'm working out this morning!!

Just a reminder:
4 (or 3 or 2) rounds for time
      22 burpee pull-ups
      22 front squats w/40 lbs
      run 200 meters w/10 lbs

I haven't completely decided how many rounds I'm going to do, but I have decided to wear my weighted vest throughout the entire thing.  My vest is 8 lbs.  I'm still going to get as close to 40 lbs as I can handle with my weights for the front squats.
*************************
I WORKED OUT TODAY!!!  WOOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!!!!  :)  And let me tell you...it KILLED me!

I did 3 rounds, instead of 4 - which is better than what I had planned on doing once I started those burpees.  I thought to myself, "I'm stopping after 2 rounds!"  I'm so glad I didn't stop then, but jeez-Louise!!  If y'all could see how red my face is right now, you'd probably be worried for me!  ha!!

I did not do burpee/pull-ups - I kill my elbows whenever I do jumping pull-ups.  I did bar-facing burpees instead and those made me feel like I was dying!  I kept thinking...really?  You really missed this?  Are you crazy?  And the answer to all of those questions is YES, I did miss working out and YES, I am crazy!  lol

Front squats were done with 38 lbs and I wore my 8 lb vest when running on the treadmill.  I am very proud to say I ran the entire running segments - no walking, YAY!!!  I wore my vest for 2 burpees at the beginning and quickly realized the error of my ways and took it off, saving it for the running segments only.  Trust me...that was plenty!

Oh - totally forgot to tell you my time...duh.

Time:  31:17
Time after round 1:  8:40
Time after round 2:  18:54  - 10:14 to complete second round
Time after round 3:  31:17 - 12:23 to complete third/final round

I do know that I stopped/rested for a full minute between rounds 1 and 2, so it really took me 9:14 to complete the second round.  Also, I stopped/rested for 2 full minutes between rounds 2 and 3, which means I finished round 3 in 10:23.  THAT was hard, but I'm so glad I finished!!

Okay...so you had a bad day.

Okay...so you had a bad day.  Don't beat yourself up over it, but don't let one bad decision send you spiraling out of control.  Grab those running shoes and get back into it.  Get back to making decisions that improve your health and your happiness.  You are who you choose to be.

This pretty much sums it up for me lately.  I AM going to adjust my schedule and get my workout time back!  I have to - I find myself getting so ill/short temper when I don't have my "me" time.  I told Honey-Buns something was going to have to give - he was either going to have to give up his nap time or change his "leave" time.  His "leave" time is when he leaves the house to go to our truck yard to check on things in the afternoons.  The problem with this now is it usually happens when I work out, but since we have been keeping Addy, I really need him to stay and watch her so I can continue to work out!  I am determined to get my time back!!!!

Sorry I went AWOL last week - it was Fall Break and between Hayley getting over the cold she had and us keeping Addy, there just wasn't time for anything else.  Plus, my son has had to move back home.  Not sure if I mentioned that or not.  His roommate works for his parents' company, but they went under so the roommate is out of a job.  My son can't afford to pay the rent and all of the bills on his own, so he's back temporarily.  I have to say, he seems relieved.  Apparently he's been struggling with money and bills (he's the type to NOT ask for anything!), so the move back home has taken a lot off of his chest.  Now...if only I can remember he's here and to feed him!  You think that's crazy, but when he came back from college I had become so used to him not being around that I would forget to include him in meals.  At that time we would pick up take-out, and I would forget about him.  He stays in the basement and comes and goes from the basement door, and he's so quiet.  He would come upstairs and be like "What's for supper tonight?" and I would be like "Ummmm...I forgot you were here!"  So, hopefully I'll be better this go 'round!  lol

Today's workout is from HIIT Mamas, but I'm also including the Brand-X scaling.  It is a hero workout, in honor of US Army First Lieutenant Jonathan P. Walsh who was from right here in Georgia.
   4 Rounds for time:
      22 burpee pull-ups
      22 front squats w/40 lbs
      Run 200 meters w/10 lbs
   Brand-X scaling:
Pack - 3 Rounds for time w/95 lb front squats and 25 lb running weight
Puppies - 2 Rounds for time w/pvc-15 lb front squats and no added running weight

I plan to do 4 rounds, unless something is happening with Addy that I have to take care of.   Fingers crossed, please!  I need to work out!!  I might need to change my workout to the morning, then I can walk through the neighborhood with Addy in the afternoons, now that it's cooler weather here.  Sounds like a plan!!

If "Plan A" didn't work, the alphabet has 25 more letters!

If "Plan A" didn't work, the alphabet has 25 more letters!   Stay cool.  - This pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?  I try to keep my cool and just move on and figure out something different.  I like to think I'm an extremely flexible and go-with-the-flow kind of person.  I think it's mostly because I get side-tracked so easily.  Hmmmm.....

I did go walking through the neighborhood with Addy yesterday afternoon.  It is gorgeous here in Georgia.  There wasn't a cloud in the sky when we were outside yesterday, beautiful sunny weather - not hot, just a hint of a breeze.  The only thing that could have made it more perfect would have been hearing the surf coming in and out!  Addy adores it outside, which makes me happy since I'd rather be outside than inside!!  While walking yesterday, I would glance down and she would just be smiling at me - the biggest smiles!  I'm so glad I bought the carrier - she even likes to be held like she sits in the carrier without it.  I did get her some sunglasses yesterday, but she doesn't like them on her face.  I found a website that has some geared for infants and they even have the little string thing that holds them in place.  I'm going to order those - I think she'd like them a little better.  She definitely needs something to protect her beautiful blue eyes!  I did not do any other exercises yesterday - she was fussy after her afternoon nap, then I had to start supper.  I'll get it together soon...I promise.  :)

I'm not sure if I'm going to do today's workout or yesterday's.  Apparently I'm on the "go with the flow" workout plan these days!!  lol  Below is what is listed on my workout tablet.

Today:
   5 rounds for time
7 dumbbell squat clean thrusters w/20 lbs
      20 sit-ups
Yesterday, 10/9:
   3 rounds for time
      run 300 meters
      20 wall ball shots
      10 push-ups
Tuesday, 10/8:
   5 rounds for time
      12 deadlifts w/40-60 lbs
9 hang power cleans w/20 lbs
      6 push press w/20 lbs

I'm just as curious as you as to what my workout will be!  HA!!

Live like you only have today.

Live like you only have today.  I like to think this is one of my many mottos!   I try to stay flexible, yet on schedule, which is kind of an oxymoron isn't it?  lol  Oh well, it is what it is!

I was going to have Honey-Buns watch my precious little angel yesterday afternoon while I worked out, but my son-in-law got off of work early so I spent my workout time carrying Addy to meet him at our pick-up spot.  Then, I swung by the grocery store and ran into a friend I haven't seen in awhile and the yacking began.  I don't know why Melissa and I cannot have a quick conversation - they always turn into 30-minute or hour-long conversations.  Put it this way...I left at 3:30 and did not get home until just after 5:00.  It normally does not take longer than 40 minutes to drop/swap Addy and I only needed to pick up crackers, toilet paper, and paper towels at the store.  Hmmm....craziness!!  lol

I haven't decided if I'm going to do yesterday's workout or today's.  They both sound like fun.  I want to try to get out and walk in the neighborhood with Addy since we've had great fall weather this week.  If I do that, then I'll do yesterday's workout as well.  If I don't get outside to walk, then I'll do the one that's prescribed for today.

HIIT Mamas:
   10/9 - 3 rounds for time
                 Run 300 meters
20 Wall ball shots, 10 lb ball
                 10 Push-ups
   10/8 - 5 rounds for time
                12 deadlift w/40-60 lbs
9 hang power cleans w/20 lbs
                6 push press w/20 lbs
                *walk the neighborhood

Well, gotta get with it this morning.  Hayley is still home from school with her cold, so it's another busy, busy day for me!

I got this!

I got this!  lol - I love, love, love this picture!  Super cute!!

Today will be short and sweet - I'm running a little behind this morning.  Honey-Buns is already on his way to pick up Addy and I'm about to wake up Hayley and get her up and in her chair - then it's time to medicate her.  Yep...she's still sick, but sounds a little better than yesterday.  She's coughing, but nowhere near as often so maybe all the medicine, soup, and juice that she's getting is working!!  She usually gets sick once school starts back, so I can't complain since school started in August and we made it through to October before getting anything...yay!?!

I completely forgot to mention after working out yesterday, but I did do all of my push-ups and sit-ups without having to stop to take breaks.  That's good news, but the bad news is that all of that extra time I took was just catching my breath and trying to slow my heart rate down!  Oh well...PLENTY of room for improvement, right?  :)

Today's workout is from HIIT Mamas:
   5 rounds for time
      12 deadlifts w/40-60 lbs
9 hang power clean w/20 lbs
      6 push press w/20 lbs

I'm going to try to do all of these with the same amount of weights since my dumbbells are adjustable.  I think it would be crazy to waste time putting my dumbbells in the holder to adjust the weight, then starting back up again.  I believe I'm going to start with 50 lbs, which is the max weight on my dumbbells and go from there.  Y'all wish me luck!!
